Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor - Industrial

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our team for a major project in Vancouver, BC. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in a related industry with direct experience in HSE. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant project while fostering a culture of safety and collaboration.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting and identifying when project-specific training is required, including weekly training topics, hazard-specific training, and the HSE Operating Procedure (HSEOP).
  • Participate in and provide information for HSE meetings.
  • Provide the project team with project-specific information and statistics to develop trends and assist with the creation of trend action plans.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Hazard ID tools such as Construction Hazard Assessment (CHA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Pre-job Safety Instruction (PSI).
  • Conduct and document project HSE inspections.
  • Verify that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Identify and monitor appropriate site PPE.
  • Assist project management and supervision with the implementation and monitoring of the emergency response plan, project security requirements, and environmental plan.
  • Gather, review, and provide input on trade documentation.
  • Monitor trade contractor safety compliance.
  • Notify project management and direct supervision of any incident and assist with the investigation.
  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and support of the project’s HSE Plan, HSEOPs, safe work practices, and any other HSE-related practices.

Essential Skills

  • 5-10 years of safety experience, including at least 3 years in industrial or oil & gas (O&G) environments.
  • Experience on projects exceeding 500 million in industrial and O&G sectors.
  • Experience overseeing teams of 100+ craft workers and trades.
  • Strong understanding of Tier 1 safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation.
  • Ability to implement HSE processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence project teams regarding HSE responsibilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Additional safety designations such as CRSP or CHST are a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Aptitude for adopting new technology.
  • Familiarity with industrial construction and O&G environments.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills, particularly with craft workers.
  • Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
