Job Title: Design Engineer III
Job Description
We are seeking a Lab Test Technical Designer to join the Systems Laboratory Test Design/Build team located in Tukwila, WA. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering product definitions for systems laboratory test requirements and instrumentation for commercial and military programs. This role involves preparing design layouts, modifying existing designs, developing engineering product definitions, and contributing to the integration of product definition across internal and external business partners.
Responsibilities
- Participate on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines.
- Support Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs) through coordination with design, manufacturing, and fabrication teams.
- Manage drafting requirements and incorporate drawing changes to support business goals.
- Support the development, maintenance, or modification of systems components and installation designs to meet requirements and specifications.
- Review design requirements and modifications of mechanical structural assemblies and installations.
- Review configuration management requirements for compliance prior to releasing lab test drawings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive product development.
Essential Skills
- More than 2 years of experience with engineering and design software such as CAD/3D packages, including CATIA, SolidWorks, and CREO.
- More than 3 years of experience working on conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables.
- Proficiency in designing and design engineering using CAD software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- AA degree in a related discipline with typically 3 or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with a strong desire to work with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Experience in test and evaluation engineering.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and involves collaborating across a variety of programs. Regular and predictable attendance is required to support engineering and manufacturing tasks. The role involves working with electrical/electronic assemblies, drafting, detailing instructions for fabrication needs, creating tool designs, and analyzing manufacturing data. Designing and documenting tests of components and materials, as well as providing technical support and training to customers, are key aspects of the role.
