Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Job Description
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will play a vital role in supporting, developing, and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes. The position involves driving engagement and understanding to improve EHS performance, influencing leadership, and integrating EHS into daily operations. The specialist will be responsible for the execution of EHS compliance programs, ensuring alignment with global EHS policies, and building relationships to achieve best-in-class compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards.
- Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational diseases and industrial health hazards.
- Promote EHS awareness through effective employee communications and participation.
- Serve as a key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.
- Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.
- Conduct compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
- Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly.
- Perform risk assessments related to jobs performed for new processes and equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for reporting.
- Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomics.
- Establish and manage the safety committee.
- Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risk.
- Support site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.
Essential Skills
- Experience in environmental health and safety, specifically within a manufacturing plant environment.
- Knowledge of EHS regulations and risk assessment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or relevant experience.
- 1+ years of experience in EHS support, especially in warehousing.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness to work any shift based on availability.
- Flexibility to work shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends.
Work Environment
The position is based at the Everett site, with 2nd shift hours. Until August 17th, the hours are 2pm – 12:30am, then they will change to 5pm - 3:30am. Applicants should specify their shift and location preference when applying.
