Job Description
The precaster assembles metal forms and helps manufacture a wide range of precast and pre-stressed concrete products, including slabs, stairs, beams, and specialized structures. This role involves preparing molds, pouring and finishing concrete, and supporting all stages of the production process in a busy, hands-on shop environment. You will work as part of a production crew to meet schedule requirements and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Responsibilities
- Assemble metal forms for molding reinforced concrete slabs, stairs, beams, and other precast products.
- Clean, prepare, and inspect molds before each pour to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Pour concrete into forms and assist with leveling, consolidating, and finishing the concrete castings.
- Frequently climb and move in and out of tall, narrow forms that are approximately 5–6 feet high.
- Read and understand the production schedule and follow established time frames and priorities.
- Assist with the setup of concrete forms prior to pouring, including placement of reinforcement and hardware as needed.
- Assist with stripping and removing concrete forms after curing while protecting product quality.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely for tasks such as form assembly, adjustment, and finishing.
- Support various activities related to the manufacturing of precast and pre-stressed concrete products.
- Maintain good housekeeping by helping clean the shop and production areas on a regular basis.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working around concrete, forms, and equipment.
- Collaborate with a crew of 5–10 team members in different production zones to meet daily production goals.
Essential Skills
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb in and out of tall, narrow forms that are approximately 5–6 feet high.
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, stretch, and climb for extended periods of time during the shift.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16 of an inch.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for construction and concrete work.
- Proficiency in using power tools in a production or construction environment.
- Comfort working in a physically demanding, hot, dirty, and dusty environment.
- Basic understanding of concrete and general labor tasks in a construction or manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with concrete finishing tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or production drawings.
- Experience in construction, carpentry, or precast concrete production.
- Experience using heavy equipment such as overhead cranes.
- Some woodworking skills for building or modifying forms.
- Experience or interest in welding, maintenance, or quality control.
- Strong teamwork mindset with a positive, cooperative attitude.
- Reliability and willingness to follow instructions and complete tasks when asked.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large precast concrete manufacturing facility that produces burial vaults, stairways, septic and water tanks, manholes, storm and sewer drainage products, retaining walls, park restrooms, light pole bases, and custom concrete projects. You will work indoors on the production floor as part of a crew of approximately 5–10 people, within one of six production zones that each require different skills and concrete mixes. The shop is spacious with open doors and operates as a busy, industrial environment where concrete dust, splatter, and general dirt are common. The broader facility employs around 150 people and uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as overhead cranes to support production. Expect physically demanding work in a hot, sweaty, and dirty setting, with appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment suited to a concrete manufacturing environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
