Job Description

The Chemist will be responsible for performing chemical formulation of products such as emulsions, dispersions, suspensions, and coatings. The role involves overseeing and managing multiple projects from development to the production of final products, working with production teams to scale up developed formulas, and conducting necessary lab work to develop new formulas and QC measures. Additionally, the Chemist will perform research into new technologies and scientific literature to stay current with industry trends and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical formulation of products such as emulsions, dispersions, suspensions, and coatings.
• Oversee and manage multiple projects from development to the production of final products.
• Work with production teams to scale up developed formulas for respective products.
• Conduct necessary lab work for developing new formulas, QC measures, and general lab maintenance.
• Research new technologies and scientific literature to stay up-to-date with industry trends.
• Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to review and approve materials for laboratory use, including documentation.
• Coordinate with third-party laboratories as required.
• Assist in training new laboratory personnel as needed.

Essential Skills

• Strong experience in chemistry.
• Experience with barrier coatings formulation.
• Wet chemistry, research & development, formulation, chemical synthesis.
• Laboratory and analytical chemistry skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in emulsions, dispersions, suspensions, coatings, polymers, urethanes.
• Background in R&D chemistry and chemical development.
• Ability to work well with others and possess a strong work ethic.

Work Environment

This role is primarily based in a chemical lab, with 70-75% of the time spent on lab work, 20-25% on meetings and office work, and 5-10% on housekeeping tasks. It is a first shift role, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and may require additional hours to complete tasks as needed.
