Job Title: MIG Welder
Job Description
This role focuses on MIG welding on mild steel to build and assemble trailer frames in a high-production manufacturing environment. You will work from blueprints, perform welding and occasional light fabrication, and have the opportunity to progress through three welder levels with clear paths for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on mild steel components according to established specifications and quality standards.
- Weld and assemble frames and structural components for trailers using proper welding techniques.
- Read and interpret blueprints to understand measurements, weld locations, and assembly requirements.
- Carry out small fabrication tasks such as cutting, bending, and basic assembly when needed.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect welds and finished assemblies to ensure they meet quality and safety requirements.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment such as ear plugs and respirators.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and timelines.
- Adapt to new technologies and equipment, including opportunities to work with robotic welding systems as they are introduced.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a large, busy manufacturing facility.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of MIG welding experience on mild steel.
- At least 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints.
- Ability to perform basic fitting and fabrication tasks such as cutting, bending, and assembly.
- Strong understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of PPE.
- Ability to work accurately from measurements and technical drawings.
- Physical ability to work in a large manufacturing environment, including standing for long periods and handling materials.
- Willingness and ability to be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the face to pass respirator fit testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing or trailer production environment.
- Familiarity with robotic welding or interest in learning automated welding systems.
- Comfort working in a loud, non-climate-controlled facility.
- Desire for long-term growth with opportunities to advance through multiple welder levels.
Why Work Here?
You will join a stable, high-volume manufacturing operation that invests heavily in automation and upgraded equipment, including opportunities to move into robotic welding. The organization offers clear advancement paths across three welder levels, with strong potential for long-term career growth. Schedules are designed around four 10-hour days, with overtime typically available on Fridays and Saturdays remaining voluntary, supporting a balanced approach to work and personal time. The facility emphasizes continuous improvement, skill development, and internal mobility, providing a place where motivated welders can steadily increase their skills, responsibilities, and earning potential. This position pays $20-$30hr
Work Environment
You will work in a very large, busy manufacturing facility that is not climate controlled, so it tends to be cool in the winter and hot in the summer. The environment is loud, and ear plugs are required at all times in designated areas. Typical schedules include a 1st shift from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., a 2nd shift from 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and a weekend shift from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For 1st and 2nd shifts, you can generally expect half or full workdays on most Fridays, with Saturdays remaining voluntary. The dress code includes jeans, a work-appropriate T-shirt, and mandatory steel-toe shoes; arriving without steel-toe shoes will result in being sent home and delaying your start date. You must also be clean shaven where the respirator seals to the face to pass the respirator test, although sideburns are acceptable as long as they do not interfere with the seal. The facility uses a mix of traditional MIG welding equipment and increasingly automated systems, creating a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
