Shipping and Receiving / Inventory Specialist
Job Description
This role oversees the inventory department within a medical device manufacturing environment, ensuring at least 95% inventory accuracy while working in a warehouse management/ERP system throughout the day. The position involves handling very small surgical equipment components, maintaining high documentation standards, and performing both computer data entry and handwritten documentation to support strict medical industry requirements. The specialist also supports daily shipping and receiving activities to keep materials flowing efficiently through the facility.
Responsibilities
- Run and oversee the daily operations of the inventory department with a target of maintaining at least 95% inventory accuracy.
- Perform all inventory transactions in the warehouse management/ERP system throughout the day, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
- Handle, store, and track very small surgical equipment components with a high level of care and attention to detail.
- Execute shipping and receiving tasks, including checking in materials, verifying quantities and part numbers, and preparing outgoing shipments.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain organized storage locations and ensure materials are properly labeled and easily accessible.
- Complete required documentation to meet medical industry standards, including both computer-based entries and clear, legible handwritten records.
- Follow established procedures and work instructions for inventory control, shipping, and receiving activities.
- Collaborate with other departments such as machining, assembly, quality, and warehouse to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, to move, load, and unload materials as required.
- Lift and move materials up to 50 pounds in a safe and controlled manner.
- Adhere to all safety requirements on the production floor, including use of personal protective equipment and compliance with facility policies.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of hands-on inventory experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- At least 2 years of experience working with an ERP or warehouse management system for inventory transactions.
- Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including verifying incoming and outgoing materials.
- Experience with inventory control practices such as cycle counting and discrepancy resolution.
- Ability to work accurately with small parts and components, particularly in a medical or precision-focused environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both system entry and physical inventory handling.
- Ability to perform computer data entry confidently and produce clear, legible handwritten documentation.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts or other material handling equipment (where licensed or authorized).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working within a medical device, surgical equipment, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working in a clean, climate-controlled production and warehouse setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as engineering, machining, maintenance, assembly, quality, polishing, and warehouse.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage locations and documentation.
- Basic understanding of SAP or similar ERP systems is beneficial.
- Commitment to following written procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.

Work Environment
The role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The facility is a medical device manufacturing plant that is extremely clean and climate controlled, providing a comfortable and organized work setting. The company employs approximately 150 people and currently runs two shifts, with departments including engineering, machining, maintenance, assembly, quality, polishing, and warehouse. Work takes place both in the warehouse and on the production floor, where safety is a priority. Steel-toe footwear and safety glasses are required on the floor, and the dress code includes plain-colored shirts with jeans or work pants to support a safe and professional environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Kenosha, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
