Job Description

Join the Metabolism Team in a dynamic role that bridges chemistry and biology. This position involves working primarily with biological samples such as plasma, blood, and urine in a laboratory setting. The end goal is to analyze data trends against biological samples, contributing valuable insights to the study.


Responsibilities

  • Work with biological samples including plasma, blood, urine, and feces.
  • Conduct cell culture tasks including maintaining and growing mammalian cell lines.
  • Perform sterile techniques and cell counting.
  • Seed and harvest cells onto assay plates and conduct extractions.
  • Support the chemistry team by performing wet chemistry techniques such as pipetting and using plate readers, liquid handlers, and centrifuges.
  • Run stability assays, protein binding assays, and enzyme inhibition assays.
  • Operate Mass Spec and LC-MS, performing extractions and running samples.
  • Participate in animal studies from dosing to sample analysis, using test tubes and cell lines.
  • Analyze data and conduct tests in a fast-paced and variable environment.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in biology, biochemistry, cell culture, and cell biology.
  • Proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Knowledge of wet chemistry or experience with biological samples.
  • Understanding of PCR, LC-MS, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related Life Science with 2-3 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 0-1 years of experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, cloning, or plasmid transfections.
  • Familiarity with qPCR techniques and working with various cell lines.
  • Experience with Hamilton robotics, UV-Vis plate readers, and cell counters.
  • Experience running assays such as stability, protein binding, and enzyme inhibition.
