Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mass Spectrometry Operator to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on operating and maintaining LC-MS instrumentation, providing training to new chemists, and managing system scheduling. It offers room for growth and the opportunity to work within a large bioanalytical team.
Responsibilities
- Start batches on LC-MS with a focus on instrumentation.
- Assist in training new chemists on instrument use.
- Manage system scheduling for over 50 Mass Spectrometers.
- Supervise chemists as they learn to run instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Independently operate LC-MS instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate lab records and document work.
- Coordinate with a team of 60 chemists.
- Communicate with Study Directors to implement corrective actions.
- Identify and address technical issues.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
- 2+ years of experience in a chemistry lab.
- 1-2 years of experience running LC-MS instruments independently.
- Experience in troubleshooting instrumentation.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in HPLC, mass spectrometry, metrology, training development, and calibration.
- A proactive attitude and mindset focused on team success.
Work Environment
The position is based in a lab setting within the Bioanalytical team, which consists of approximately 100 employees, predominantly chemists. The environment is highly collaborative, with an emphasis on teamwork and communication. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
