Job Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of HVAC systems for a wide range of building types. You’ll create system designs, narratives, drawings, and specifications while supporting project teams throughout design, construction, and commissioning. This is a hands‑on engineering role with strong visibility and long‑term growth potential.
What You’ll Do
- Develop HVAC system designs, narratives, drawings, and specifications for diverse project types.
- Certify HVAC system plans and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Design heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning layouts using CAD software.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations for commercial and residential applications.
- Collaborate closely with internal design, construction, and service teams.
- Conduct engineering qualification tests and coordinate with third‑party agencies for compliance.
- Create prototypes, test plans, and technical documentation.
- Assist with proposals for negotiated and design/build projects.
- Support conceptual budgeting and cost estimating for HVAC systems.
- Attend and participate in project interviews and client presentations.
- Establish HVAC basis‑of‑design documentation for multiple project types.
- Lead or support QA/QC reviews of assigned work.
- Interpret architectural drawings and 3D models and perform related calculations.
- Assist with schedule development, manpower planning, and budget insights.
- Provide construction administration support, including field investigations and walkthroughs.
- Process submittals, RFIs, change orders, bulletins, and record drawings.
- Support HVAC system functional testing and commissioning.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements, value engineering, or cost savings.
- Collaborate with project managers to maintain consistent project standards.
- Participate in internal meetings and contribute to a positive, team‑oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Understanding of HVAC system applications, design principles, and system types.
- Basic knowledge of LEED principles as they relate to HVAC design.
- Solid understanding of applicable building and mechanical codes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and 3D models.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations to support design decisions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/hr.
