This high-visibility New Product Development (NPD) Project Manager role involves driving new industrial products from quote to launch. You will step into active programs and keep teams aligned. The position covers for a team member on leave with the potential opportunity to continue past the initial 4-6 month period. Weekly onsite presence is required in the downtown Milwaukee office, with a consistent onsite cadence expected.
Responsibilities- Effectively execute New Product Development projects from quotation phase through completion, ensuring alignment to scope and delivery within time, budget, and quality constraints.
- Lead industrial manufacturing product development projects within a stage-gate/NPD process.
- Manage 2–3 active projects at a time from a broader portfolio of ongoing programs, depending on experience and business priorities.
- Build and maintain an end-to-end project plan including deliverables, timeline, budget, and key milestones aligned to internal policies/standards and the business case.
- Coordinate cross-functional execution across engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Drive project execution by tracking milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Escalate roadblocks and decision points to leadership early to protect schedule and project momentum.
- Facilitate clear communication across global and/or cross-site teams to ensure alignment and timely handoffs.
- Develop and present project status updates that support stakeholder decisions, follow-ups, and accountability.
- Manage stakeholder expectations through changing requirements or priorities while keeping deliverables on track.
- Lead project closeout activities, including lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities with stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading NPD/product development projects in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Comfort operating within a stage-gate process and driving execution across multiple functions.
- Strong project planning fundamentals including scope, schedule, budget, risk, dependencies, and resource planning.
- Ability to lead through influence and coordinate teams without direct authority.
- Clear, concise communicator who can present status and escalate appropriately.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
- Experience in project management within the manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in new product development processes.
The role is within a corporate, global company with an office environment located in downtown Milwaukee.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
