Shifts:
A side Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, & Every other Wednesday 6a - 6p
A side nights: Same days as above except 6p - 6a
B side Days: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Every other Wednesday 6a - 6p
B side Nights: Same as Above except 6p - 6a.
Job Brief:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technicians to join our IT team. The Data Center Technicians will be responsible for the break-fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays. They should be familiar with interpreting BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for and have a strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.
Responsibilities:
• Perform tasks listed under Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 as needed.
o Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.
o Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.
o Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.
o Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.
o Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.
o Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).
o Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.
o Audit servers and consumables.
o Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
o Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
o Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
o Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
o Assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.
o Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.
o Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.
o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
o Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
o Provide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.
o Serve as the initial contact/liaison between team members and management.
o Prioritize and manage workload across the team.
o Review build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.
o Direct build activities related to data center operations.
o Ensure projects are aligned with data center standards.
o Provide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.
o Manage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.
o Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.
o Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.
o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
o Perform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.
• Perform break-fix tasks on GPUs, servers, network, and cabling.
• Manage tickets using ITSM tools.
• Land fully populated GPU or network racks within the data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays.
• Interpret BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for.
• Install, test, and label copper and fiber infrastructures within the data center.
• Handle and install optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP style connectors.
• Scope and clean fibers (SC, LC, MPO styles).
• Rack and stack equipment within existing racks.
• Patch fiber and copper cables.
• Lead and manage teams effectively.
• Travel as required.
• Work with DC power and DC powered equipment.
• Provide daily communication and document progress using customer tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.
• Familiar with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise-level data centers.
Requirements:
• 3-10+ years of deployment and/or break-fix experience in a data center.
• Extensive experience with landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment.
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.
• Experience with handling and installing optical modules such as SFPs and QSFP style connectors.
• Experience with scoping and cleaning fibers (SC, LC, MPO styles).
• Experience with racking and stacking equipment within existing racks.
• Experience with patching fiber and copper cables.
• Proven experience in leading teams.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Experience with DC power and DC powered equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document progress using customer tracking mechanisms, MS Office, and digital photos.
• Experience working in a data center environment.
• Familiarity with telecom engineering designs specific to enterprise-level data centers.
