Field Engineer (Electrical)

Full‑time | Midwest Travel Required

About the Role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Field Engineer to support the successful execution of solar energy and data center construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring field operations run safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans, schedules, and quality expectations. The Field Engineer will serve as a central communication point between field crews, subcontractors, general contractors, and the project management team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage project document control systems, including drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and as‑builts.
  • Track document revisions and ensure all field teams are using current versions.
  • Support development and maintenance of 1‑week and 3‑week look‑ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate planned work activities with field supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Assist with tracking daily production, labor hours, and installed quantities.
  • Support project progress reporting and forecasting.
  • Conduct field walks to verify work progress matches plans and schedules.
  • Act as a liaison between the electrical contractor and the General Contractor (GC).
  • Participate in coordination meetings, safety meetings, and project planning sessions.
  • Communicate field constraints, material needs, and schedule impacts to the project team.
  • Assist with onboarding new field personnel, including orientation and documentation support.
  • Support site safety initiatives and ensure compliance with project safety requirements.
  • Assist in quality control by verifying installation accuracy against drawings and specifications.
  • Perform construction administration tasks, including processing Submittals, RFIs, Change Orders, Bulletins, and Record Drawings.
  • Support functional testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Maintain consistent project standards and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest as required for project assignments.
  • Strong organization, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Work Environment

This position requires regular travel to project sites across the Midwest. Field Engineers work in dynamic construction environments and must adapt to varying site conditions while ensuring safety, quality, and consistent communication across all project teams.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Washington, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $36.00/hr.
