Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a crucial role in interpreting detailed blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine production standards and tolerance limits. You will troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff, recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production, and perform inspections on first piece, in-process, purchased part, finished material, and products to ensure conformance to specifications.


Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to determine production standards and tolerance limits.
  • Troubleshoot print and bill of materials problems in cooperation with Engineering and production staff.
  • Recommend methods of assembly, welding, and production.
  • Perform inspection on first piece, in process, purchased part, finished material, and products, ensuring conformance to specifications.
  • Test finished products for paint quality and thickness, welding quality, dimensions, fit, blast profile, and appearance.
  • Perform standard inspection tests including air testing welds and magna-flux testing.
  • Route products for re-work.
  • Complete all required records and paperwork including inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and re-work orders.
  • Process purchase damage numbers when incorrect material is received.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged and loaded correctly to minimize possible damage during transportation.
  • Analyze inspection results and assist in addressing and resolving production problems causing deviations from existing standards.
  • Communicate with plant supervision noted deviations of tolerances and quality.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of quality experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in reading blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications.
  • Experience in a metal fabricating shop inspecting welds.
  • Experience with Laser, Press Brake, Powder Coating.
  • Experience in CARS, Internal Audits, ISO 9001.
  • Customer-facing experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient in blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and bill of materials.
  • Quality control and inspection of parts.
  • Proficient in test equipment, welding, laser, and powder coating.
  • Job shop/contract manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal processes.
  • Experience with Mig & Tig Welding, Powder Coating.
  • Customer interfacing, CARs, Internal Audits, PPAP, ISO 9001.

Work Environment

This position operates on the 1st shift from Monday to Thursday, 5am-3:30pm, with Friday being optional.



Compensation:$75000
