Job Description
We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer with expertise in using PC-DMIS software. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of GD&T, be adept at programming complex parts, and possess machining experience to thrive in a machine shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements to create effective and efficient CMM programs.
- Develop, modify, and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS software.
- Design and develop CMM fixturing and tooling to streamline setups.
- Execute CMM programs and analyze results to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct first-article and in-process inspections.
- Mark parts effectively with machining moves to meet customer specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot measurement issues and implement corrective actions.
- Train and mentor staff on CMM programming and measurement techniques as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement processes and efficiency.
- Complete 100% dimensional layouts for PPAP as required.
- Operate multiple CMMs simultaneously to support production checks during the shift.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Stay updated with advances in CMM technologies and measurement techniques.
Essential Skills
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a CMM programmer using PC-DMIS software for complex parts.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to read technical drawings.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certification in metrology or quality control (ASQ, Six Sigma, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with different types of measuring equipment, such as laser scanners and optical comparators, is desirable.
- Knowledge of casting and machining is preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a quality lab equipped with four CMMs, where 90% of the workday will be spent. The lab is air-conditioned and clean, while the shop floor is a CNC machine shop with multiple buildings inside the main building. The plant is air-conditioned and well-lit, except for the shipping dock. The position involves working five days a week with flexible hours, including options such as 5am-1:30pm, 6am-2:30pm, or 7am-3:30pm. No overtime is required, and an unpaid lunch break is included. A CMM Operator will assist in this role. The company operates two shifts: 5am-3:30pm and 3:30pm-2am.
