Job Description
This role focuses on high-end finish carpentry and cabinet installation for new luxury apartment construction throughout the greater Milwaukee area. You will install trim, doors, windows, and cabinets, working from blueprints and plans to deliver precise, high-quality finishes in both residential and commercial environments. The position requires strong finish carpentry skills, consistent attention to safety, and the ability to work professionally in occupied business settings.
Responsibilities
- Install finish trim on walls, doors, windows, and cabinets in new high-end apartment buildings.
- Hang interior doors and install cabinets with a high level of precision and craftsmanship.
- Perform both finish and rough carpentry tasks as needed, including framing and general construction support.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans to understand project specifications and layouts.
- Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, and other framing and finish materials according to specifications.
- Use hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, drills, and nail guns safely and efficiently.
- Lay out and assemble framing components for floors, walls, roofs, and staircases when required.
- Apply knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards to all work performed.
- Calculate dimensions, quantities, and angles to ensure accurate layout and installation.
- Identify and solve on-site construction challenges and adjust work to field conditions as needed.
- Collaborate with crew members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and maintain project timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area on job sites.
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor, especially when working in restaurants, retail stores, or other occupied businesses.
- Travel to various job sites across the greater Milwaukee area and document mileage when applicable.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of carpentry experience with strong emphasis on finish carpentry.
- At least 2 years of trim experience.
- At least 2 years of finish carpentry experience.
- At least 2 years of hardware installation experience (e.g., door hardware, cabinet hardware).
- Experience in rough carpentry in residential or commercial settings.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and building plans.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, metal, and other materials.
- Skilled use of hand and power tools, including saws, hammers, drills, and nail guns.
- Knowledge of framing techniques for floors, walls, roofs, and staircases.
- Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating dimensions, quantities, and angles.
- High level of safety awareness and adherence to safe work practices.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift materials, climb, and work in various site conditions.
- Reliable transportation to travel to job sites across the greater Milwaukee area.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew with strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ownership of basic personal carpentry tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience installing cabinets and hanging doors in residential or commercial settings.
- Experience working in restaurants, retail stores, or other commercial environments.
- Experience with crown molding installation.
- Proficiency using a miter saw for precise cuts.
- Knowledge in commercial construction and apartment complex projects.
- Comfort working on long-term assignments at job sites lasting 6–9 months.
- Strong professionalism and presentable appearance when working in occupied spaces.
- Willingness to travel between various job sites, with mileage compensation for longer distances.
- Preference for candidates with framing experience focused on new construction rather than restoration, decks, or additions.

Work Environment
You will work primarily on new apartment construction projects, including a 140-unit building in downtown Milwaukee followed by an additional 80-unit building. The work centers on high-end luxury apartment complexes and other commercial environments, such as restaurants and retail spaces, where you may work during business hours. The role involves regular use of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and nail guns, in active construction sites that require strict adherence to safety practices. You will typically remain on a job site for 6–9 months, providing a stable, project-based environment. Work takes place both indoors and in varying site conditions, and you are expected to maintain a professional, presentable appearance, especially when working in occupied or customer-facing locations. Travel across the greater Milwaukee area is a regular part of the role, with compensation provided for driving beyond specified distances.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Racine, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $35.00/hr.
