Job Description
The QC Chemist will work within a laboratory environment of a pharmaceutical company in the Milwaukee area. The role involves using a range of laboratory equipment and techniques, including HPLC, UV, KF, FTIR, and IC, to conduct release and in-process testing of materials and finished products. The chemist will work alongside one additional chemist, interpreting chromatography data and utilizing data management systems such as Chemstation or Chromeleon.
Responsibilities
- Conduct release and in-process testing of materials and finished products.
- Interpret chromatography data and document all GMP activities accurately and legibly.
- Execute wet and analytical chemistry during the analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and API products.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on QC instrumentation.
- Prepare and standardize volumetric solutions.
- Assess if materials meet specifications for release.
- Provide information and documentation responses in cases of customer complaints or returns.
- Perform and review critical and complex calculations.
- Write procedures, test methods, protocols, reports, and material specifications.
- Support consistent compliance with internal and regulatory procedures through training and guidance.
- Meet deadlines as provided by the QC Manager.
- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation, including HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, KF, and ICP-MS.
- Ability to interpret and review analytical data.
- Proficiency in performing calculations and documenting results.
- Familiarity with GMP standards and practices.
- BS Degree in the Sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology).
- 3-5 years of experience as a chemist in industry.
- Experience with HPLC and GC.
- 2 years of experience with Excel.
- Experience with a data management system, such as Chemstation or Chromeleon, is a plus.
The work environment is within a quality laboratory of an API/F&F/Specialty Chemical company, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. The role includes first shift hours during training from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, transitioning to 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Additionally, the facility is expanding, enhancing API manufacturing capabilities and laboratory operations. Annual pay raises are performance-based, averaging 4% of salary yearly.
