The engineer will collaborate with both in-house and client engineers and designers, providing coordination and training to junior engineers.Responsibilities<ul><li>Develop project scopes, one line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.</li><li>Review substation construction drawings and verify compliance with codes and standards.</li><li>Engineer and design lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair.</li><li>Make necessary changes and corrections to drawings and documentation.</li><li>Ensure proper use of equipment and materials according to project standards and codes.</li><li>Verify timely ordering and delivery of materials and equipment for substation construction.</li><li>Travel to project sites for walk downs and information gathering.</li><li>Function as a project lead for substation projects.</li><li>Perform engineering and design activities with minimal direction.</li><li>Lead and coordinate work activities within the team and with external groups.</li><li>Provide training and guidance to lower level employees.</li><li>Identify and initiate corrective action when project objectives are not met.</li><li>Interpret codes and regulations and develop construction project standards.</li><li>Promote engineering professionalism and standards.</li><li>Participate in plan development by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements.</li><li>Work under the supervision of higher level engineers.</li></ul>Essential Skills<ul><li>Experience in utilities working with substations (2-8 years).</li><li>Experience in completing engineering projects from start to finish (2-8 years).</li><li>Experience in scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for substations (2-8 years).</li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.</li></ul>Additional Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering can count toward years of experience.</li><li>A PE License is desirable but not required.</li><li>Skills in substation design, project engineering, and understanding of physical utility engineering.</li></ul>Job Type &amp; LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
