Job Title: Survey Crew ChiefJob DescriptionThe Survey Crew Chief is responsible for performing and leading field surveying activities to support construction, mapping, land development, and title-related projects. This role involves researching existing survey records, deeds, maps, and physical evidence to accurately establish locations, elevations, boundaries, and contours. The Survey Crew Chief will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the Survey team.Responsibilities<ul><li>Conduct extensive fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions and physical environments.</li><li>Research and interpret survey evidence, including deeds, maps, and prior survey records.</li><li>Determine appropriate methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control.</li><li>Collect precise measurements of points, lines, areas, and elevations using GPS and robotic total stations.</li><li>Maintain accurate field notes, records, and sketches to document and certify work performed.</li><li>Lead and manage daily field operations, including assigning tasks and supervising crew members.</li><li>Ensure proper care, maintenance, and organization of survey equipment and vehicles.</li></ul>Essential Skills<ul><li>Surveying expertise with GPS and Total Station equipment.</li><li>Experience in construction layout and topography.</li><li>Proficiency in land surveying, land development, and using Civil 3D.</li><li>Minimum of five years of hands-on survey field experience.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and sound analytical and judgment skills.</li></ul>Additional Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong aptitude for mathematics.</li><li>Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and robotic survey instruments.</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.</li></ul>Work EnvironmentProjects are located within the Metro Detroit area, with the reporting location in Farmington Hills. Job Type &amp; LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Farmington Hills, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $78000.00/yr.Overtime pay at time and a half.
