Job Title: Phlebotomist Job DescriptionThe primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The phlebotomist plays a vital part in ensuring efficient specimen collection and processing.Responsibilities<ul><li>Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.</li><li>Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.</li><li>Decontaminate work areas and update patient information.</li><li>Collect and store specimens following established procedures.</li><li>Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections clearly and courteously to patients.</li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.</li><li>Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely.</li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.</li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.</li><li>Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match the script with 100% accuracy.</li><li>Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.</li><li>Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.</li><li>Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.</li><li>Attend annual department training sessions.</li><li>Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.</li></ul>Job Type &amp; LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
