Mechanical Design Engineer

<h2>Job Title: Machine Designer</h2>Job DescriptionAs a Machine Designer, you will dedicate over 80% of your time to working on design projects in Nx. The projects primarily involve assembly cells, which can be mechanical or robotic, as well as router fixtures, vacuum-formed tools, and trim dies.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Participate in mechanical kick-off meetings to understand project scope and responsibilities with the Program Manager and team.</li><li>Collaborate with controls designers during the electrical kick-off when the design is 50-60% complete.</li><li>Conduct risk assessments of projects using an Excel outline.</li><li>Engage in wiring meetings to collaborate on design requirements and provide necessary dimensions to the wiring team.</li><li>Participate in internal design reviews with the programmer and build team before final customer sign-off.</li><li>Submit designs to customers for buy-off, complete design release, and compile the Bill of Materials (BOM) and risk assessments.</li><li>Review and update BOM or risk assessments for any project changes before shipping.</li><li>Manage multiple projects, which can range from sole focus on large projects like edge fold tools to handling 4-6 smaller projects or engineering changes concurrently.</li></ul><h2>Essential Skills</h2><ul><li>5+ years of experience in Machine Design or Mechanical Design, specifically in assembly cells.</li><li>Proficiency in CAD and Nx software.</li><li>Experience with engineering calculations, including force of cylinders, weights, inertia, and PSI.</li><li>Background in automation design and material-handling equipment.</li></ul>Additional Skills &amp; Qualifications<ul><li>Strong preference for candidates with NX experience.</li><li>Experience in the material handling or automation industry.</li><li>An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.</li></ul><h2>Work Environment</h2>The work environment involves starting between 6-7 am, working up to 50 hours a week, with a schedule that includes a morning break, a 30-minute lunch break, and an afternoon break.
