Is CareerCircle only for veterans and people with disabilities?
No. The CareerCircle job board is open to everyone. Certificate holders, career switchers, STARs, and skilled candidates from any community can create a profile and search for jobs.
That said, some employers do come to CareerCircle specifically to reach military talent and individuals with disabilities, which shapes our employer network. Roughly 1 in 6 members are part of the military community and 1 in 7 are individuals with disabilities, so employers wanting to attract employees from those communities come to us as a solution.
We focus on these communities because of what the data shows. The Bureau of Labor Statistics put 2025 unemployment for people with a disability at 8.3 percent, roughly double the 4.1 percent rate for people with no disability. The gap holds even among college degree holders age 25+, standing at 5.3 percent for those with a disability against 2.5 percent for those without one. While a bachelor's degree is beneficial to finding work, it does not fully close the employment gap for individuals with disabilities. That suggests many qualified people are still being screened out, and closing that gap is where we come in.
Why does CareerCircle focus on military talent if veteran unemployment is relatively low?
BLS reported veteran unemployment at 3.5 percent in 2025, below the 4.2 percent nonveteran rate, but unemployment is not the only measure that matters. Some of the issues that veterans face in the workforce is where they end up finding employment. A low jobless rate does not mean they have landed in the right career.
Do you need a college degree to use the CareerCircle job board?
No. CareerCircle is built for skills-based hiring, which means your certifications, credentials, and demonstrated skills often carry more weight than your degree status. STARs in our network get the same recruiter support and advocacy as anyone else, and we work with many employers who understand the power of hiring employees based on skills.
Remember, if you are missing a credential a role calls for, we can help you. CareerCircle members have access to free and discounted courses through partnerships with providers including IBM SkillsBuild and Grow with Google. Once you complete a certification or credential, you can add it to your CareerCircle profile.
How is CareerCircle different from a general job board?
