This role, comparable to a transmission builder or mechanic, requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow technical instructions, and attention to detail. The Gearbox Assembly Mechanic ensures gearboxes are accurately built to specifications and meet quality and safety standards before moving into production.What Will You Do?<ul><li>Interpret and apply blueprints, drawings, and technical bulletins for accurate assembly. </li><li>Set up, adjust, and assemble gearboxes and related components while ensuring proper sequence and build quality. </li><li>Prepare and use fixtures, mount components, and perform assembly using hand and air tools (wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.). </li><li>Operate basic machinery such as lathes, mills, and drills when required for component preparation. </li><li>Inspect assemblies to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications. </li><li>Use computer systems to check part location, routing, and inventory; maintain accurate production records. </li><li>Support a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies. </li></ul>Note: The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company.  What Do You Need?  <ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training a plus. </li><li>Mechanical aptitude with previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a related environment. </li><li>Ability to read and understand written instructions, blueprints, and production records. </li><li>Basic math skills, including ability to calculate sums, differences, fractions, and conversions. </li><li>Experience or training in welding, machining, mechanical assembly, or metalworking machinery operation beneficial. </li><li>Strong attention to detail, quality, and adherence to safety practices. </li><li>Willingness to work as part of a team and cross-train in related assembly functions. </li></ul>Work Environment:  <ul><li>Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt).   </li><li>Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air power supplies, and materials handling.   </li><li>Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, paint, and fuels.   </li><li>A variable work schedule (ranging from 8-12 hours daily depending on production needs, with overtime paid after 40 hours per week) and some scheduled work on Saturdays.    </li><li>An expectation to work at least 50% of the Extra Time (ET).    </li></ul>​ Essential Physical Functions:   The physical demands for this job are classified as heavy and include the following:<ul><li>Be able to regularly handle items weighing up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.    </li><li>Be able to regularly pull or push items weighing up to 50 pounds.   </li><li>Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.    </li><li>Be able to regularly lift items weighing up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.    </li><li>Job requires frequent walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.    </li><li>Job requires occasional sitting, twisting, elevated work, and continuous standing.    </li></ul>The Toro Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Gearbox Assembly Mechanic - Ditch Witch (Night Shift)

This employee may also run a Robotic Welding Machine. As a cross-functional team member of this division he or she may also assemble components and perform other duties as assigned.What Will You Do?<ul><li>Read information from blueprints, technical manuals or other documents.</li><li>Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly. This includes using hand and air tools such as wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.</li><li>Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.</li><li>Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.</li><li>Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments.</li><li>Use a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions.</li></ul>What Do You Need?<ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent preferred.</li><li>Have appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.</li><li>Have appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.).</li></ul>Welder II: <ul><li>Typically, 18 to 36 months of directly related experience required.</li><li>Certificate from technical school preferred.</li><li>Have appropriate MIG welding experience in all phases of welding (short arc, spray transfer, hard surfacing and submerged arc) also have experience in cutting processes, oxyacetylene torch and plasma torch.</li><li>Must pass the written Production Welder II test over symbols with a minimum score of 70% and the hands-on macrotech test to determine the quality of the weld.</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to weld production jobs to print, while following standard work with little to no supervision.</li><li>Be knowledgeable of SAP and be able to utilize the system, and assist others, based upon job needs.</li><li>Willing to instruct and train others on best practices in production welding.</li></ul>​Welder I:<ul><li>Have appropriate MIG welding experience OR have completed a formal welding training program (or the equivalent in training and experience).</li><li>Pass required entry-level plate test for production welding.</li></ul>Work Environment:<ul><li>Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt).</li><li>Use of personal protective equipment including a welding hood, gloves, and sleeves, safety glasses, face shields and hearing protection.</li><li>Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, electrical arc-welding equipment, and materials handling.</li><li>Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and pressurized gases.</li><li>A variable work schedule (ranging from 8-12 hours daily depending on production needs, with overtime paid after 40 hours per week) and some scheduled work on Saturdays.  </li><li>An expectation to work at least 50% of Saturdays.</li></ul>Essential Physical Functions:The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include the following:<ul><li>Be able to handle items weighing over 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.</li><li>Be able to handle pull or push items up to 50 pounds.</li><li>Be able to handle items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.</li><li>Be able to handle items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.</li><li>Job requires frequent walking, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.</li><li>Job requires continuous walking.</li><li>Job requires occasional sitting and elevated work.</li></ul>The Toro Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
