Associate Electrical Engineer (Upcountry Plant Engineering)

The Position Highly skilled professionals with experience in manual machine tool operation are invited to apply for East Bay Municipal Utility District's (EBMUD's) Maintenance Machinist position. Maintenance Machinists work both in the shop and field performing highly skilled mechanical maintenance, manual machining, repair fabrication, and installation work on a variety of industrial plant equipment such as pumps, electric motors, valves, plumbing systems, and related mechanical equipment. The work requires considerable independent judgment. The primary responsibilities will be manual machining unique replacement parts, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pumps, pressure regulators, water isolation valves, and all other mechanical equipment located in the pumping plants and other facilities. Maintenance Machinist

The Position THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT STUDENTS AT CAL STATE UNIVERSITY EAST BAY East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) has one (1) Student Intern position (part-time, approximately 19 hours per week when school is in session, or full time on school breaks) in the Water Conservation Department. EBMUD, headquartered in Oakland, is an environmentally and socially progressive, publicly owned utility providing drinking water service to approximately 1.4 million customers in 20 cities and 16 unincorporated communities in portions of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and wastewater treatment services for more than 740,000 customers in the East Bay. Water Conservation Division The Water Conservation Division aims to achieve water efficiency and supply reliability within the EBMUD community through customer support, community education and outreach, conservation research, and the application of innovative practices and technologies. Water Conservation Internship Role Description The Student Intern will support the Water Conservation Division through data-driven analysis of water efficiency programs and/or support marketing and outreach campaigns. Projects may include creating marketing content and outreach collateral, Geographic Information System (GIS)-based analysis, and internal program evaluation. This is a hybrid role based at EBMUD's downtown Oakland office, with some telecommuting possible. The preferred schedule is full-time during summer, with the option to continue part-time during the school year, depending on the selected candidate's availability. Student Intern (Part-time)

The Position East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) invites qualified applicants to apply for a Wastewater Control Inspector II position in the Wastewater Environmental Services Division. This position plays a central role in coordinating with property owners, contractors, HOAs, commercial parcel groups, and City Inspectors to support compliance under the Regional Private Sewer Lateral (PSL) Ordinance and the Federal Wet Weather Consent Decree; assisting with program data management; and supporting customer outreach and education efforts. This recruitment will fill a full-time vacancy within the Private Sewer Lateral Section. A Wastewater Control Inspector II in the PSL Section works closely with homeowners, plumbing contractors, city inspectors and other stakeholders, utilizes safe practices and procedures to perform inspections of residential and commercial private sewer laterals, and accurately record observations and inspection data. The list created from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies within the Environmental Services Division, including Wastewater Control Inspector II positions within the Source Control Section. Source Control related duties may include performing inspections of industrial and commercial facilities; biosolids land application and disposal sites; and food service establishments in support of EBMUD's Fats, Oils, and Grease Program. Wastewater Control Inspectors perform investigations to identify sources that negatively impact community sewers, the wastewater treatment plant, and San Francisco Bay. They collect water, wastewater, and soil samples, and perform a variety of tests in the field. Typical duties include: &bull; Inspecting private sewer lateral test equipment setups and monitoring water and air tests to assess compliance with the Regional Private Sewer Lateral Ordinance. &bull; Performing sampling of wastewater discharges from industrial facilities and domestic wastewater from EBMUD and community sewer systems. &bull; Identifying safety concerns when performing field inspections and investigations. &bull; Reviewing documents such as discharge permits, inspection reports, and laboratory analytical reports. &bull; Making observations at commercial and industrial facilities to assess compliance with wastewater discharge permit, EBMUD Sewer Ordinance, and federal pretreatment program requirements. &bull; Performing investigations of sanitary sewer overflows, receiving water samples, and investigating incidences of unusual conditions at the wastewater treatment plant. &bull; Performing laboratory tests in the field and collecting, transporting, storing, and preserving samples in accordance with standard methods and EPA regulations. &bull; Accurately recording field test results as well as documenting observations and communications during inspections and investigations. &bull; Communicating with industrial and commercial facility contacts to discuss permit violations, enforcement actions, and waste minimization opportunities.
