The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the nursing department. This position ensures the highest level of quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective leadership of nursing staff. The DON serves as a key member of the facility’s leadership team, driving clinical excellence, fostering staff development, and promoting a culture of safety and resident-centered care.

Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Supervises nursing care provided by registered nurses, licensed vocational/practical nurses and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible.</li>
<li>Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations.</li>
<li>Supervisory responsibilities include:</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Interviews, hires and trains employees.</li>
<li>Plans, assigns and directs work.</li>
<li>Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration Resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.</li>
<li>Transfers employees among units as needed.</li>
<li>Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.</li>
<li>Disciplines employees up to and including discharge.</li>
<li>Approves the correction of errors in timecards or other timekeeping records.</li>
<li>Authorizes overtime as necessary.</li>
<li>Receives and resolves employee complaints.</li>
<li>Determines rotation of employees within facility.</li>
<li>Monitors and corrects job performance of employees.</li>
<li>Adequately supervises assigned staff and assures that those staff are supervising employees assigned to them.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Oversee facility in absence of higher-ranking management officials.</li>
<li>Uses independent judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization in the performance of these duties.</li>
</ul>
Education and/or Experience:
<ul>
<li>A graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.</li>
<li>Progressive nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or related healthcare setting.</li>
<li>Management of supervisor experience in long-term care, restorative or geriatric nursing preferred.</li>
<li>Knowledgeable in state and federal regulations governing long-term care.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.</li>
</ul>
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
<ul>
<li>Registered Nurse who is currently licensed to practice by the state. </li>
<li>Current CPR certification or CPR certified within 90 days of employment.</li>

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing, overseeing, and coordinating the delivery of resident care during assigned shifts in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care plans while ensuring the highest degree of quality care and safety. The RN supervises and supports licensed practical nurses (LPNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and other team members to ensure continuity of care and serves as a key resource for residents, families, and staff.

<li>Supervises LPNs, Medication Aides, CNAs/STNAs and other staff providing direct care</li>
<li>Plans, assigns, and directs work in alignment with resident needs and staff capabilities</li>
<li>Prepares work assignments, adjusting for staffing levels and resident safety</li>
<li>Receives staffing-related calls and arranges replacements as needed</li>
<li>Transfers employees among units per staffing demands</li>
<li>Completes performance evaluations and provides input on hiring, disciplining, or terminating staff</li>
<li>Adjusts break schedules and resolves staff concerns</li>
<li>Oversee unit operations during absence of higher-level management</li>
<li>Use independent judgment in accordance with company policies and applicable laws</li>
</ul>
Education and/or Experience:
<ul>
<li>Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience in long-term or sub-acute preferred.</li>
</ul>
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
<ul>
<li>Current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)</li>
<li>Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment</li>
</ul>
