The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in supporting maintenance and repair activities within a highly automated solar module manufacturing plant. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and performing repairs to ensure continuous operation and optimal performance of manufacturing equipment and systems.
Responsibilities- Assist in performing preventive maintenance tasks on manufacturing equipment and systems according to established schedules and procedures.
- Support the diagnosis and troubleshooting of complex equipment malfunctions and failures, identify root causes, and help implement effective corrective actions.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and machinery to identify potential issues, safety concerns, or opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with repairing or replacing defective components, parts, or systems to restore equipment functionality and minimize downtime.
- Carry out detailed equipment failure analyses and lead both preventive and unscheduled maintenance tasks as needed.
- Move, assemble, install, or dismantle equipment in accordance with safety and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with maintenance leadership and team members to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities based on production needs and equipment availability.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history, and parts inventory, using established documentation practices.
- Participate in training programs and skill development opportunities to continuously enhance technical knowledge and maintenance proficiency.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and equipment to support a safe and efficient work environment.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.
- Set up, operate, adjust, calibrate, and maintain complex manufacturing and production equipment to ensure optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Utilize diagnostic and testing equipment, such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, pressure gauges, and calibration tools, to identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed and support efforts to quickly restore equipment to service.
- 5–7 years of experience in maintenance or a related field, preferably within a highly automated manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems used in industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical components including gears, bearings, shafts, conveyors, drive systems, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems, with the ability to safely inspect, assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild industrial equipment and machinery.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, circuits, relays, contactors, sensors, power distribution components, and electrical control panels.
- Experience with automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial robotics, VFDs, and automated production systems, with the ability to monitor system performance and support control system troubleshooting.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills with the ability to interpret fault codes and alarm histories, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience performing preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance using diagnostic tools, multimeters, machine fault reports, HMI data, MES reports, and other monitoring systems.
- Proficiency in the setup, operation, adjustment, calibration, maintenance, and repair of complex manufacturing and production equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of mechanical motion, power transmission systems, automated equipment, and machine interactions.
- Skill in using electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools, including multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, pressure gauges, calibration equipment, and other maintenance testing instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems and PLC control circuits.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to industrial maintenance activities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.
- Proficiency in English language skills.
- Experience with Siemens systems and Siemens PLCs.
- Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting and PLC control in an industrial environment.
- Experience working with servo motors and associated control systems.
- Practical experience with welding, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other maintenance tracking software.
- Ability to be trained in mobile and industrial plant equipment.
- Experience in a highly automated manufacturing or production environment.
- Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing and walking for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 lbs as part of regular maintenance activities.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and work in various body positions to access equipment and components.
- Ability to reach above shoulder and below waist frequently while performing maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work in confined spaces when required by maintenance activities.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a climate-controlled warehouse within a highly automated solar module manufacturing plant. You will work around advanced production lines, industrial electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, and other state-of-the-art automation technologies. The position involves standing and walking for extended periods, frequently lifting up to 60 lbs, and performing tasks that require bending, kneeling, reaching above shoulder height, working below waist level, and occasionally working in confined spaces. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with established procedures for lockout/tagout and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
