Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Job Description
The Maintenance Manager oversees daily maintenance operations for carbon and stainless fabrication shops, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all building systems and production equipment. This role leads a maintenance team, drives preventive maintenance programs, manages budgets and vendors, and ensures full compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Manager also coordinates capital projects, responds to emergencies, and plays a key leadership role in supporting continuous, high-quality plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily maintenance operations for carbon and stainless fabrication shops to ensure safe and efficient functioning of building systems and production equipment.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of assets.
- Lead, supervise, and schedule maintenance staff and contractors, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Manage the maintenance budget, including planning and controlling costs for parts, supplies, tools, and vendor contracts.
- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, environmental, and other applicable safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices and conducting regular inspections and audits.
- Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and capital improvement projects with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of forklifts and related material handling equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to support continuous production.
- Lead PLC troubleshooting efforts as needed to diagnose and correct equipment control issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, and equipment history.
- Monitor and manage parts and inventory levels to ensure critical components are available when needed.
- Prepare and present maintenance reports, metrics, and recommendations to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues, including after-hours situations when required, to minimize production disruptions.
- Collaborate with operations, production, and engineering teams to prioritize work, plan shutdowns, and support process improvements.
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and overall plant performance.
Essential Skills
- At least 5 years of maintenance leadership experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, steel processing, or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading maintenance teams, including supervision, scheduling, and training of technicians and contractors.
- Strong experience with forklift diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems and their maintenance.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in maintenance management practices, including preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Experience with safety practices and compliance related to OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in industrial maintenance settings.
- Effective leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Experience with budget and inventory management for maintenance operations.
- Capability to coordinate projects, repairs, and upgrades with vendors and contractors.
- Competence in documenting maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment history.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in welding, metal fabrication, pipe manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or other maintenance tracking systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and industrial control systems.
- Experience as a maintenance technician or in hands-on maintenance roles.
- Experience working within fabrication or steel processing environments.
- Ability to contribute to process improvement and reliability initiatives across the plant.

Work Environment
This role is based in a fabrication facility that supports carbon and stainless steel operations. You will work primarily on-site in an industrial plant environment with active production equipment, material handling systems, and heavy machinery. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some Saturdays required based on production and maintenance needs. The work involves close collaboration with production teams, vendors, and contractors, and requires comfort working around mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to regulatory requirements, and consistent, reliable plant operations.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
