Job Description
We are seeking Facilities Assessment Consultants to support large projects across the country. This role involves significant travel, with up to 60-70% of time spent on-site, assessing facilities and performing data entry remotely for the remaining time.
Responsibilities
- Review client documentation, including drawings, reports, and maintenance records, before and during inspections.
- Verify equipment details such as manufacturer, model, serial number, capacity, age, and configuration.
- Conduct physical inspections to identify and inventory mechanical equipment including refrigeration equipment, pumps, motors, compressors, HVAC systems, conveyors, generators, and turbines.
- Capture and maintain accurate records in asset management systems or inventory databases.
- Label, tag, or barcode equipment as necessary.
- Evaluate system conditions using professional judgment, ensuring conformance with client standards and applicable codes related to accessibility, life safety, energy, and sustainability.
- Utilize tablets and mobile data-collection software to document findings and support condition assessments with photographic evidence.
- Document findings in asset management and capital planning software.
- Perform individual quality assurance to ensure findings are accurate, complete, and aligned with project scope.
- Coordinate site access and inspections with facility and operations personnel.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on familiarity with industrial or facility mechanical systems.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in facility condition assessments, facility operations, building design or construction, or property/facilities management.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards for existing facilities.
- Experience performing quantity surveys and developing replacement cost estimates using RSMeans or similar data sets.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical certifications, professional registrations, and government clearance are a plus.
- Multi-discipline knowledge including architectural, structural, mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing), electrical, and/or site utilities is advantageous.
Work Environment
Consultants will travel primarily to Costco sites in the Central, Midwest, and East regions. The role requires frequent travel, with a typical schedule of two weeks in the field followed by one week of remote work. All travel expenses, including food and lodging, are covered. There is flexibility in working hours, and consultants
are compensated for travel time during business days.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
