Job Title: Phlebotomist – South Scottsdale
Job Description
This role focuses on performing high-quality blood draws and specimen processing in a physician office setting in South Scottsdale. You will collect and receive biological specimens, accurately enter data into the laboratory information system, prepare samples for analytical testing, and ensure specimens reach the correct analytical areas. You will support both pre- and post-analytical phases of testing, perform specified analytical tests as assigned, and deliver compassionate care to patients, including those with cancer, pediatric patients, and individuals who present with difficult draws.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on a wide range of patients, including cancer patients, pediatric patients, and those with difficult veins, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and patient comfort.
- Collect and receive biological specimens into the department, verifying patient identity and ensuring proper labeling and handling according to established protocols.
- Enter patient and specimen information accurately into the company’s computer system and maintain complete and precise documentation for all specimens.
- Prepare samples for analytical testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and appropriate storage, following all laboratory procedures and quality standards.
- Distribute specimens to the appropriate analytical areas in a timely and organized manner to support efficient laboratory operations.
- Support both pre-analytical and post-analytical aspects of testing, including specimen verification, documentation, and any required follow-up actions.
- Perform specified analytical tests as assigned, adhering to laboratory policies and procedures and maintaining high standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Follow all guidelines outlined in the organization’s Code of Conduct, including maintaining patient confidentiality, demonstrating professional behavior, and complying with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Collaborate closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff in the physician’s office to coordinate patient flow and ensure a positive patient experience.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care, clearly explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns to help patients feel at ease during blood collection.
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues, assisting with workload as needed, and contributing to a positive and cooperative work environment.
Essential Skills
- At least 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience, including experience with cancer patients, pediatric patients, and other difficult draws.
- Proficiency in blood collection techniques, including venipuncture and capillary draws, with a strong emphasis on being an excellent “stick.”
- Hands-on experience in specimen processing, including receiving, labeling, preparing, and distributing biological specimens.
- Ability to accurately enter and manage patient and specimen data in a computer or laboratory information system.
- Demonstrated experience in patient care within a clinical or laboratory setting.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with medical assistants, clinicians, and laboratory staff.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of specimen handling and documentation.
- High school diploma or GED.

Work Environment
This position is based in a physician office in South Scottsdale, where you will work as an on-site phlebotomist drawing the physician’s patients and collaborating closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff. The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with an 8-hour shift that falls between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You will work in a clinical environment that includes standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment, computers for data entry, and routine patient-care supplies. The setting emphasizes teamwork, professional conduct, and patient-centered service. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.
