Job Description
The Procurement Specialist manages end-to-end purchasing activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services that support manufacturing operations. This role uses MRP/ERP systems to create and manage purchase orders, collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, and maintains accurate supplier and inventory records. The Procurement Specialist analyzes supplier performance, supports cost reduction initiatives, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities using MRP/ERP systems to support production and inventory requirements.
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in alignment with production schedules, lead times, and company policies.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, delivery status, and expediting needs.
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, components, and services to support manufacturing schedules and prevent production delays.
- Monitor, update, and maintain accurate procurement, supplier, and inventory records within ERP and related systems.
- Analyze supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and delivery, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, strategic supplier selection, and alternate sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with planning, production, engineering, and quality teams to understand and support material requirements.
- Support inventory accuracy through participation in cycle counts, audits, and excess and obsolete inventory reduction initiatives.
- Assist with supplier onboarding, including documentation collection and compliance requirements.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and support the development and execution of mitigation strategies to avoid production disruptions.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on procurement and overall supply chain efficiency.
- Perform additional procurement and supply chain duties as assigned to support business needs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in procurement and purchasing activities.
- Proven experience with purchase order creation, management, and follow-up.
- Strong proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, including experience with SAP or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and contract or purchase agreement management.
- Background in vendor and supplier management, including performance monitoring and communication.
- Experience in inventory-related activities such as inventory tracking and coordination with buyers or planners.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed, cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting electronics manufacturing or high-mix manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or electronics suppliers is an asset.
- Familiarity with supply chain risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives within procurement or supply chain functions.
- Professional supply chain certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, SCMP, or similar are considered an asset.

Work Environment
The role operates in a climate-controlled, organized facility that supports focused and efficient work. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with shift times varying as needed to support business requirements. The environment is structured to facilitate collaboration with production, planning, engineering, and quality teams while maintaining a professional and orderly workspace.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
