Job Title: Packaging Line Worker
Job Description
The Packaging Line Worker supports the efficient and accurate packaging of products by preparing materials, operating along the packaging line, and maintaining high quality and safety standards in a food production environment. This role involves handling packaging supplies, inspecting materials and finished goods, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the work area while working collaboratively with the production team.
Responsibilities
- Stock and sort product and packaging supplies such as film, boxes, lids, bottles, ink, and labels to ensure the line remains fully supplied.
- Measure and examine materials and finished products to confirm they meet established quality and production standards.
- Inspect lot numbers, expiration dates, and other product specifications before packaging to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Place materials and products into containers, cartons, and boxes according to packaging guidelines.
- Seal containers and boxes using hands, fasteners, tape, and hand tools to secure products for shipment or storage.
- Identify and remove damaged, defective, or otherwise inferior materials or packaging supplies from the line.
- Transfer materials, supplies, and finished products between work areas to support continuous production flow.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and tools as specified to prevent cross-contamination and maintain food safety standards.
- Provide timely information or indications of problems to Management or Quality Assurance to support quick resolution of issues.
- Report to work regularly and on time to support consistent production schedules.
- Perform all duties safely and report unsafe conditions or actions to help maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist with other tasks and duties as needed and directed to support overall production and packaging operations.
Essential Skills
- Experience with warehouse packing and general packing activities.
- Ability to manage basic inventory tasks related to packaging materials and supplies.
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting materials, labels, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Capability to stand, squat, bend, and lift for extended periods of time as required by the role.
- Skill in monitoring products and processes for quality.
- Demonstrated problem sensitivity to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
- Knowledge of food production processing and related quality and safety standards.
- Ability to work well with others and communicate issues clearly to Management or Quality Assurance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience cleaning and sanitizing equipment after production runs to prevent cross-contamination.
- Comfort using basic hand tools, fasteners, and tape for sealing containers and boxes.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support production schedules.
- Willingness to assist with additional duties and adapt to changing production needs.

Work Environment
This position operates on the 1st or 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 5:00 am to 3:30pm or 3:45 p.m. to 2:15 a.m., providing a consistent four-day workweek schedule. The work takes place in a food production and packaging environment that requires adherence to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards. The role involves extended periods of standing, squatting, bending, and lifting, as well as frequent movement between work areas to handle materials and products. Equipment and tools must be cleaned and sterilized regularly to prevent cross-contamination and maintain food safety.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
