Job Description
We are seeking a diligent Laboratory Analyst – Chemist or Laboratory Technician to join our team. Under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager, you will perform analytical testing to support our services, ensuring accuracy and cost-effectiveness. This role requires maintaining records while adhering to safety, legal, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Receive, examine, and log inbound samples for testing.
- Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
- Monitor supplies required for testing processes and communicate needs to the Laboratory Manager.
- Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodologies after demonstrating proficiency.
- Review results against specifications and expectations, and may issue analyses to clients.
- Prepare samples, quality control specimens, reagents, and solutions, and calibrate equipment.
- Verify and communicate results, ensuring accurate entries into logs, charts, and records.
- Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in an orderly and safe condition.
- Assist in training less experienced employees upon demonstrating sufficient proficiency.
- Adhere to the company's Safety Policy, Quality Management System, Ethics Policy, and Environmental Management System.
- Proficiency in chemistry and analytical instruments.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to handle flammable chemicals safely.
- High school education or equivalent for Laboratory Technician, with petroleum testing experience or formal chemistry education preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field for Laboratory Analyst – Chemist.
- Two years of relevant experience required for U.S. Customs related testing.
This position is based onsite in the lab. The work environment includes exposure to flammable chemicals, and the operation runs 24/7. Initially, training occurs on the 1st shift (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), eventually transitioning to the 2nd shift (2 p.m. to 10 a.m.). Weekend work is required, with the potential to decrease frequency once the team is fully trained. This role requires flexibility with shifts and working both weekend days. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
