Job Description
We are seeking an execution-focused Project Scientist or Junior to Mid-Level Project Geologist with 4 to 7 years of experience in environmental consulting. This role is crucial in supporting remediation projects through strong report ownership, project coordination, and technical execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of remediation workflows, particularly in soil and groundwater, and be able to take work from data interpretation to report submission.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of project deliverables in phases, progressing from support to partial ownership, and eventually full ownership.
- Drive projects forward while working within a structured project management and client manager review environment.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, with guidance initially and increasing autonomy over time.
- Coordinate schedules, subcontractors, and reporting timelines to maintain project momentum.
- Prepare, review, and drive environmental reports through their full lifecycle, from draft to final submission.
- Interpret field and laboratory data to develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Collaborate with Project Geologists, client managers, and administrative support for quality assurance and quality control.
- Provide oversight, coordination, and interpretation of field programs, stepping into field work as needed for project support.
- Proactively communicate when blocked and seek guidance early to ensure project success.
- Experience in environmental consulting with a strong understanding of remediation workflows.
- Proven report writing skills with demonstrated ownership of reports.
- Ability to drive deliverables forward, even if not in a full project management ownership role.
- Experience with soil sampling, site remediation, geology, and environmental fieldwork.
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related scientific field such as Environmental Science or Biology.
- Valid US Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (can be provided if not already obtained).
- Experience with petroleum or gas station remediation and permitting exposure is a plus.
- Exposure to groundwater monitoring and remediation programs preferred.
The work environment is a basic office setting with a family-style, flexible, non-corporate culture. The team consists of 40 people in the Geoscience Department, with 6-8 members in the immediate team. Work hours are from 9 am to 4 pm, with flexibility for early arrival and departure. The role involves a blend of field and office work, with approximately 2-3 days per week in the field during active projects. The position offers opportunities for continued education reimbursement and growth. Safety protocols require personal protective equipment depending on the project.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.10 - $55.00/hr.
