Job Description
The Data Entry Clerk provides accurate and timely data entry and email-based customer support in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. This role focuses on managing a shared email inbox, supporting different customers, and maintaining organized records while working closely with a small, analytical team. The ideal candidate learns processes quickly, retains detailed product information, and handles challenging interactions with professionalism and composure.
Responsibilities
- Enter alphanumeric data accurately and efficiently into company systems and databases.
- Manage a shared email inbox and respond promptly and professionally to a high volume of customer emails.
- Support different customers via email, ensuring clear, concise, and well-organized written communication.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office tools to create, update, and maintain documents and spreadsheets.
- Work within an ERP system to enter, update, and track orders, parts, and customer information.
- Maintain a high level of organization when working with large volumes of product information and part numbers.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail when entering numbers, addresses, and other critical information.
- Handle difficult customers and complex scheduling situations with patience, professionalism, and problem-solving skills.
- Learn internal processes quickly and apply them consistently in daily work.
- Collaborate with a small team, communicate clearly, and speak up when clarification or support is needed.
- Maintain reliable attendance, arrive on time, and complete the full scheduled shift consistently.
- Protect data integrity by double-checking entries and correcting errors promptly when identified.
Essential Skills
- Proven data entry experience with strong alphanumeric typing accuracy.
- Experience providing customer service, preferably in a call center or customer support environment.
- Strong email communication skills with the ability to write clear, professional responses.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Experience using an ERP system for data entry or order processing.
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and retain detailed information, such as multiple product or part numbers.
- Strong attention to detail, especially with numbers, addresses, and other critical data.
- Ability to handle difficult people and challenging scheduling situations calmly and professionally.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple email requests and tasks efficiently.
- Articulate communication style, both written and verbal.
- Reliable attendance and a demonstrated history of consistent work hours and tenure in previous roles.
- Comfort working onsite in Carlsbad during standard business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- No degree required; relevant work experience is more important.
- Experience in inbound call or call center environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with handling large catalogs or high-end products with many part numbers is helpful.
- Personable and outgoing enough to communicate effectively, while remaining focused and professional.
- Ability to get along well with a small, quiet, analytical team.
- Strong recall and memory for processes, product details, and customer requirements.
- Takes pride in the quality and accuracy of their work.
- Stable work history that demonstrates commitment and tenure in previous positions.
- Openness to learning new systems, tools, and processes.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
