Job Description
This role focuses on renovating vacant apartments in the North Orange County area as part of a two-person team. You will perform a variety of basic construction tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and drywall repair, to prepare units for new residents. The position requires hands-on experience with tools, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver quality work efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Renovate vacant apartments in teams of two, ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
- Perform basic plumbing tasks such as replacing faucets and shower heads and ensuring proper function after installation.
- Carry out basic electrical work, including installing ceiling fans and related fixtures in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Complete basic carpentry tasks such as installing baseboards, door casings, and other finish trim components.
- Patch drywall holes and, when needed, remove and replace sections of drywall to restore walls to a finished condition.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and finishing materials.
- Inspect completed work to confirm it meets project specifications and is ready for occupancy.
- Collaborate with team members to plan daily tasks, share workload, and complete renovations on schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within each unit and in shared workspaces.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while handling tools, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including sawzall, cordless drill or impact driver, and finish nail gun.
- Hands-on experience with basic construction tasks in residential or apartment settings.
- Ability to perform basic plumbing work, such as replacing faucets and shower heads.
- Ability to perform basic electrical tasks, including installing ceiling fans and similar fixtures.
- Basic carpentry skills, including installing baseboards, door casings, and finish trim.

- Ability to follow safety protocols and use tools and equipment responsibly.
- Background in construction, renovation, or maintenance environments.
- Experience with HVAC-related tasks or familiarity with HVAC systems.
- Comfort working with a variety of building materials and finishes.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor issues during renovations and propose practical solutions.
- Strong time-management skills to complete multiple tasks within project timelines.

Work Environment
You will work on-site in vacant apartment units in the North Orange County area, primarily in a field-based, hands-on renovation environment. The role involves frequent use of hand and power tools such as sawzalls, cordless drills or impacts, and finish nail guns, along with other construction tools and materials. Work is performed in teams of two, requiring close collaboration and communication. The environment includes typical construction conditions, such as working around dust, noise from tools, and varying room temperatures depending on building conditions. You can expect a physically active role that involves standing, bending, lifting materials, and moving between units throughout the day. Standard work hours typically follow a daytime schedule aligned with property access and renovation timelines, though specific hours may vary by project. Attire should be practical and appropriate for construction work, including durable clothing and closed-toe footwear suitable for a renovation setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
