Job Description
As a Cook Lead , you will be responsible for producing breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items, catering to various needs including therapeutic diets, room service delivery, catering needs, and employee meals. In the absence of senior kitchen staff, you will assume leadership responsibilities, ensuring food safety, sanitation, and the preparation and presentation of meals. You will delegate tasks to ensure timely meal preparation while adhering to established Dining Services policies.
Responsibilities
- Incorporate the company's mission, vision, and core values into all aspects of your role.
- Attend team meetings and events.
- Be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and act calmly during emergencies.
- Complete line check procedures for assigned areas, ensuring each menu item is tasted before service.
- Conduct daily pre-service huddles to include training and motivational points.
- Inform executive kitchen staff of potential issues for timely resolution.
- Lead by example in food safety and sanitation, maintaining a safe work environment.
- Participate in and direct meal preparation and organization for meal service.
- Train newly hired back-of-house team members.
- Work with team members to ensure back-of-house standards are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in line cooking and/or food preparation in hospitality or culinary-focused environments.
- At least 1 year of entry-level kitchen leadership experience.
- Current state-sanctioned regulatory Food and Alcoholic Beverage Licenses.
- ServSafe certification is a plus.

Work Environment
This is an active role requiring moderate to high physical activity, including walking, bending, and lifting (35 to 50 pounds). You will frequently communicate with coworkers and residents. The work environment may expose you to uncomfortable odors, temperatures, chemicals, or hazardous materials. Flexibility in work hours is necessary to meet community needs. Safety compliance is mandatory, and participation in safety committees may be required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $25.75/hr.
