Job Title: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - NPI
Job Description
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - NPI will provide technical expertise at a local project level for operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills. The role is accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication, and assembly.
Responsibilities
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
- Provide technical expertise at a local project level in governance and deployment of manufacturing development and integration for production.
- Rapidly solve issues pertaining to vendor schedules and/or quality.
- Break down technical problems, risks, and opportunities to create products and add value through creating Zero Defects.
- Lead positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
- Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
- Provide local project technical oversight for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems.
- Lead the implementation of production planning from original concept through to production, designing these processes to a high level of process capability utilizing the Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
- Implement the global process for product development, first article development, configuration changes, and build process definition and implementation.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or in lieu of degree 7+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
- 5+ Years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strongly preferred experience in NPI.
- Aerospace industry experience.
- MRO experience.
- Leadership and mentor mentality.
- Experience with welding, thermal spray, shot peening, and CNC machining.
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.
- Ability to provide technical input at all levels of work.
- Identifies and anticipates technical problems and offers solutions.
- Drives to complete the job on time and continually searches for better ways of doing things.
- Analyzes situations logically and uses information systematically to identify appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to apply complex and non-routine analysis.
- Competent member of the technical community with a good understanding of other disciplines.
- Acts without supervision in own area while able to supervise others.
- Applies knowledge and skills to a range of activities.
- Understands the formal and informal structure of the business.
- Provides support to the technical community and shows commercial awareness at the local level.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment, which involves working with various technologies and equipment. The hours and shifts may vary based on project requirements. The facility adheres to high standards of safety and environmental policies. The dress code typically includes safety gear appropriate for a manufacturing setting.
