Job Title: Project Manager
Job Description
The Project Manager leads multiple solar tracking projects across the Western, Mountain, and Central United States, overseeing each initiative from purchase order execution through commissioning. This role ensures strict adherence to safety protocols on project sites, manages cost, scope, schedule, and contracts, and provides technical support to deliver a best-in-class customer experience. The Project Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, coordinates global logistics, and serves as the internal advocate for customer needs while helping drive the success of large-scale renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Take personal responsibility for safety and share responsibility for the safety of all staff, contractors, and visitors on project sites, applying a solid understanding of workplace health and safety principles and safety management.
- Read, understand, and comply with all company policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage groups of projects from purchase order execution through commissioning, taking ownership of all aspects of assigned projects.
- Lead the management of project cost, scope, schedule, and contracts for multiple concurrent projects.
- Provide technical support to customers, ensuring a best-in-class customer experience and delivering product and systems expertise.
- Develop and maintain a strong technical understanding of PV solar tracking systems and associated tools.
- Ensure a high level of customer care and clearly communicate solutions and resolutions to customer issues.
- Coordinate the ordering of tools and ensure the availability of tools and training required for assigned projects.
- Manage project profit and loss, including revenue forecasting, invoicing, cash flow, and cost control.
- Provide customer field support for installation and quality control, including driving resolution of quality issues through Non-Conformance Report and Construction Deviation Report processes.
- Coordinate and drive the successful, on-time delivery of all products from purchase order to delivery by liaising with design engineering, supply chain, logistics, freight forwarders, and customers.
- Track parts and components arriving from multiple global suppliers and ensure they align with project schedules and requirements.
- Track design changes and monthly billings, and maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
- Establish, measure, and report key performance indicators for customer care to influence behavior and improve performance.
- Play a key role in cross-functional product teams, providing recommendations based on systems integration expertise and customer feedback.
- Support product development, sales, and marketing initiatives as requested by the business.
- Act as the internal voice of the customer and advocate for customer needs and priorities within the organization.
- Work directly with external customers, building strong relationships and representing the project team in meetings and presentations.
- Present project status, issues, and recommendations clearly and confidently to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Travel to project sites an estimated 3 to 7 times per year, primarily for project kick-off meetings and key milestones.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3–5 years of project management experience, preferably in energy, construction, mining, or oil and gas projects.
- Proven experience managing the cost, scope, schedule, and contracts for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong project management skills and formal project management qualifications or training.
- Experience interfacing with supply chain, procurement, and logistics functions.
- Experience handling customer support and operations and maintenance (O&M) issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in guiding project teams and influencing cross-functional partners.
- Experience working directly with external customers in a project or account-facing role.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) principles and safety management.
- Passion for solar or renewable energy and interest in advancing clean energy solutions.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) technology and its applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with photovoltaic tracking solar systems is a strong plus.
- Experience with NetSuite or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a significant advantage.
- Experience coordinating global supply chains and tracking parts from multiple international suppliers.
- Ability to establish and report on key performance indicators for customer care and project performance.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to manage complex customer expectations.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional product, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Comfort with occasional travel for site visits and project kick-off meetings.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based onsite at an office in Fremont, California, with an expected presence on-site four days per week, Monday through Thursday. The role involves regular collaboration with engineering, supply chain, logistics, sales, and customer support teams, as well as remote coordination with customers and suppliers across different regions. You will travel approximately 3 to 5 times per year, and potentially up to 7 times per year, to various project sites—primarily on the West Coast and within your time zone—for project kick-off meetings and key milestones. The work environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, centered on large-scale solar tracking projects and modern project management, communication, and productivity tools. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.50/hr.
