Job Title: Fielder/Distribution Pole Inspector


Job Description

As a Field Inspector, you will spend 8-12 hours in the field, 3-4 days a week, capturing distribution utility pole and wire attributes using cameras, field sheets, or utility-specific tools. The remaining 1-2 days will be spent remotely reconciling field information and preparing for upcoming fieldwork. This position requires travel throughout Southern California, with initial projects in Glendale and Santa Cruz, and opportunities for both local and out-of-state travel.


Responsibilities

  • Capture utility pole and wire attributes in the field using various tools.
  • Reconcile field information and prepare for future fieldwork.
  • Drive personal vehicle to various locations within the designated service territory.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and the public.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, sometimes in areas with limited cell reception.
  • Solve problems and overcome challenges in the field.
  • Maintain a schedule-driven approach to manage daily priorities.
  • Handle multiple types of fielding requests and preferences.

  • Initiative in construction, electrical tasks, and blueprint reading.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and distribution design.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with IKE 4 GPS or Katapult, Google Earth Pro, and Blue Beam Revu is preferred.
  • High School Diploma required; AA/BA/BS preferred.
  • Capability to communicate via technology platforms to support a self-driven schedule.

Work Environment

Field Inspectors will spend 3-4 days a week in the field and 1-2 days working from home. The position requires long periods outdoors, hiking, and the ability to lift or wear equipment weighing 50-60 lbs. Safety is a priority, and fire prevention equipment is provided. Inspectors must have a safe, reliable vehicle and personal protective equipment, such as closed-toe work boots and jeans. The role offers the potential for a long-term career path, and mileage reimbursement is available for personal vehicle use. The ideal candidate will reside in or near Santa Cruz or San Jose but must be flexible to travel to project sites.
