Job Description
This role focuses on purchasing with some planning responsibilities, including forecasting for both short-term (3-60-90 days) and long-term (2-3 years) to support product launches in the US and Japan. You will work closely with the sourcing department to communicate forecasts and demand schedules, ensuring suppliers are prepared with necessary parts. Heavy use of ERP systems and Excel is required, with the ability to create planning schedules independently.
Responsibilities
- Strategically manage inventory to balance supply with forecasted and actual demand.
- Lead procurement activities, ensuring compliance with internal controls and purchasing policies.
- Develop and execute purchasing plans to support production schedules.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with various teams to support new product introductions and engineering changes.
- Resolve invoice and receiving discrepancies by coordinating with Accounting and Receiving teams.
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification, maintaining the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in indirect purchasing, especially during construction of additional production lines.
- Work with standard and custom products for clinical trials.
Essential Skills
- 4+ years of experience in purchasing and planning.
- Experience in the medical device industry, ideally class 3, but open to other classes.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, such as JDE, Oracle, or SAP.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups; macros and formulas are a plus.
- Ability to create custom planning and purchasing schedules using Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with smaller components and multi-level BOMs.
- Comfortable with 100+ line item purchase orders.
- Ability to walk production floors and clean rooms, with appropriate attire (bunny suit).
- Experience with long-term forecasting and planning (90+ days to 2-3 years).
- Knowledge of Accounts Payable processes.
Work Environment
This position is located onsite in Irvine, at a rapidly growing class 3 medical device manufacturer. The company produces balloon catheters and is expanding its operations with plans to launch in the US and Japan. The work environment includes a clean room and production floor, with a laid-back dress code of jeans and t-shirts. Working hours are from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional overtime and Saturday work required. The team is dynamic and flexible, adapting quickly to new product launches.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
