Job Title: Sanitation Associate
Job Description
The Sanitation Associate maintains all plant surfaces, equipment, and common areas in a clean and sanitary condition throughout the shift in a food manufacturing environment. This role follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) under the guidance of the Sanitation and Quality Assurance teams to support food safety, USDA requirements, allergen control, and product traceability. The position requires safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals, strict adherence to safety protocols, and timely reporting of any issues that could affect food safety or equipment performance.
Responsibilities
- Follow GMP/SSOP standards | Handle chemicals safely
- Follow safety (LOTO, IIPP) | Keep records accurate
- Prevent cross-contamination | Control water usage
- Clean all facility areas | Sanitize equipment/surfaces
- Use PPE and hygiene rules | Prepare for production
- Report issues immediately | Follow QA instructions
- Be flexible with tasks | Report safety concerns
- Work efficiently | Read instructions in English
Essential Skills
- Food Handler certified
- Knowledge of food safety/processes
- Experience with sanitation tools/chemicals
- Food production experience
- Lift 25–50 lbs as needed
- Perform physical tasks (bend, reach, carry)
- Stand, walk, sit for long shifts
- Use hands/tools continuously
- Climb, balance, and crouch frequently
- Strong communication/teamwork
- Reliable and follow instructions
- Good attendance and work ethic
- Work in fast-paced environment
- Read/write basic English records
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in janitorial/sanitation roles
- Knowledge of GMP & SSOP
- Familiar with USDA sanitation standards
- Knowledge of LOTO & IIPP safety
- Pest control process awareness
- Good time management skills
- Operate sanitation equipment (hoses/tools)
- Spanish language skills (plus)

Work Environment
This is a night shift role from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in a food plant. You work in both cold and warm areas. You handle water and cleaning chemicals often. You use hot, high-pressure hoses. You work near moving machines. There is noise and vibration. Floors may be wet and food smells are present. You stand and walk most of the time. You bend, climb, kneel, and crawl often. You lift and carry items regularly. You must wear PPE at all times. Jewelry and makeup are not allowed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
