Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team, proficient in blood collection via venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups. This includes performing pediatric blood collections and managing difficult draws in medical office buildings. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety protocols and be able to effectively communicate these to other employees. Additionally, they should possess the skills necessary to provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques.
- Handle pediatric blood collections and challenging draws.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and communicate these effectively.
- Provide orientation and training for patient service technicians.
- Work under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead.
- Maintain excellent attendance and behavior records.
- Adapt to flexible shifts and hours.
- Travel to various Medical Office Building labs throughout South Orange County.
- Phlebotomy proficiency, including venipuncture and neonatal experience.
- At least six months of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting, with a preference for one year.
- Experience in outpatient (LabCorp, Quest, etc.) and inpatient (hospital) settings.
- Ability to draw 45-55 patients in an 8-hour outpatient shift and 20-30 patients in an 8-hour inpatient shift.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with lab systems such as Cerner.
- CPT 1 License.
- High School Diploma.
- Hospital experience is a plus.
- Experience with pediatric patients.
- Ability to travel across multiple sites.
This is a high-volume role primarily based in Medical Office Buildings (clinics). Initially, you will work in draw station-only locations across various sites including Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Tustin, and San Juan Capistrano. Upon permanent placement, you will work in the main hospital lab. The schedule requires availability between 6 am and 11 pm every day of the week.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
