This role focuses on the inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment of returned electronic products, with an emphasis on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and system-level electronic assemblies. You will perform precise hand soldering and assembly work, interpret technical documentation, and ensure all repairs meet established quality standards. In addition, you will maintain accurate records of repair activities, including updating RMA statuses and preparing detailed repair reports.
Responsibilities- Perform precise hand soldering and assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs), including through-hole and surface-mount components.
- Assemble and modify prototype, developmental, and production electronic assemblies according to specifications.
- Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and technical documentation to complete assembly and repair tasks.
- Install electronic components using appropriate hand tools and soldering equipment.
- Inspect and test electronic assemblies using test equipment to verify proper functionality, performance, and quality.
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies, identifying and resolving faults at the component and board level.
- Ensure all work consistently meets IPC-A-610 workmanship and quality standards.
- Follow established safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical handling, and material handling.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and actively maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and production team members to resolve technical issues and meet project and production objectives.
- Update and record all related RMA statuses in the database accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare clear and detailed repair reports for each case, documenting findings, actions taken, and final status.
- 1–2 years of experience in electronic assembly, soldering, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in hand soldering, including through-hole and surface-mount (SMT) components on PCBs.
- Experience with electronic assembly and PCBA hand soldering in a production or repair setting.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and process documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and testing skills for electronic assemblies and circuit boards.
- Competence using electronic test equipment to verify functionality and diagnose issues.
- Understanding and practical application of IPC-A-610 workmanship and quality standards.
- Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills for working with small electronic components.
- Ability to perform tasks that require visual magnification for detailed inspection and assembly work.
- Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) controls and best practices in handling sensitive electronic components.
- Experience assembling and modifying prototype, developmental, and production electronic assemblies.
- Familiarity with surface-mount technology (SMT) processes and components.
- Ability to interpret and work from detailed technical documentation and work instructions in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with a variety of hand tools, soldering equipment, and electronic test instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable work.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with technicians, engineers, and production teams.
- Ability to follow established safety protocols and consistently use required PPE.
- Organizational skills to maintain accurate repair records and documentation.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a very clean manufacturing facility with a smaller team of approximately 25 employees, fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. You will work a daytime schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. The environment involves hands-on work with printed circuit boards, electronic assemblies, soldering equipment, hand tools, and electronic test equipment, following ESD controls and safety procedures. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and the workspace is maintained to high standards of cleanliness and organization appropriate for electronics manufacturing and repair.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
