Job Title: Production Associate – Laser Marking (1st Shift)
Job Description
The Production Associate supports the manufacturing of industrial cutting products by performing laser marking and a variety of production tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role involves operating equipment, handling materials, and following detailed instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure high-quality, accurately marked products. The position requires flexibility to cross-train and assist in multiple departments as production needs change.
Responsibilities
- Operate laser marking equipment to mark parts accurately according to job orders and specifications.
- Read, understand, and follow written instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in English.
- Use basic computer skills, including typing and navigating Windows applications, to run jobs, enter data, and verify information.
- Verify correct part numbers, cross-reference job orders, and ensure proper labeling and identification of products.
- Handle finished goods and components with care, maintaining a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
- Safely lift and move materials up to 50 pounds with assistance as required, and up to 35 pounds frequently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work closely with experienced operators, accept direction, and contribute positively in a team-based production environment.
- Demonstrate punctuality and reliability by arriving on time and being prepared for the full shift, including overtime when needed.
- Cross-train and assist in other departments such as dressing, packaging, painting, grinding, CET printing, and stamping as assigned.
- Perform radius grinding by handling small parts and carefully shaving segments to match core radius, using good hand dexterity.
- Support material picking by pulling materials to feed the production line, following instructions, and working safely and efficiently.
- Assist the production line when there are no materials to pull, remaining flexible and willing to help where needed.
- Learn and support laser welding operations, developing machine aptitude and following SOPs to check quality after welding.
- Measure and assist with open arbor work, including learning to cut arbor holes with different patterns using laser cutters or machines.
- Perform general labor tasks such as assembly, packaging, packing, stocking, deburring, and basic machine operation as needed.
- Monitor product quality throughout the process, using a keen eye for detail to identify and report defects or inconsistencies.
- Follow all warehouse and workshop safety procedures around large production equipment and forklifts.
- Engage in continuous learning to improve skills across multiple production areas and support overall team goals.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of production, general labor, or related manufacturing experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both speaking and writing, to understand instructions and documentation.
- Basic computer skills, including experience using Windows applications and basic typing.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and frequently lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and climbing.
- Strong attention to detail to verify part numbers, follow job orders, and inspect product quality.
- Good hand dexterity for handling small parts, radius grinding, and other precise manual tasks.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work safely around production machinery.
- Willingness to wear required PPE at all times, including steel-toe boots and safety glasses.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow directions, support coworkers, and adapt to changing priorities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in general production, packaging, packing, assembly, or machine operating.
- grinding, deburring, or similar metalworking or fabrication tasks.
- Familiarity with construction or industrial environments.
- Ability or willingness to develop machine aptitude for laser welding and other production equipment.
- Ability to measure accurately for open arbor work and learn to operate laser cutters or related machinery.
- Experience with stocking or material handling in a warehouse or production setting.
- Demonstrated reliability, focus, and a positive attitude toward training and learning new tasks.
- Strong quality mindset with a keen eye to check parts after welding, grinding, or marking.

Work Environment
This is a 1st shift role in laser marking, working Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with openness to overtime as needed. The facility operates with approximately 120 employees across 1st and 2nd shifts in a warehouse and workshop environment. Conditions can vary with the seasons, with higher temperatures in the summer and cooler temperatures in the winter. The production floor is subject to heat, cold, noise, dust, and other particles, and includes the operation of large equipment and machinery such as production machines and forklifts. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toed shoes or boots and safety glasses, with additional PPE such as earplugs and gloves when handling finished goods. The role involves frequent lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods, and repetitive bending, reaching, and climbing. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
