Job Description
This role performs routine custodial and janitorial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and professional facility. You will handle tasks such as sweeping, mopping, trash and recycling removal, and restroom cleaning while following safety procedures and proper chemical handling. The position requires comfort with physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and general cleaning of assigned areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and dispensers, and restock supplies as needed.
- Collect, sort, and remove trash and recycling from offices, cafeterias, stockrooms, and other facility areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in offices, cafeterias, stockrooms, and other common spaces within the facility.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Operate basic custodial tools and equipment safely and efficiently as part of daily cleaning tasks.
- Perform general housekeeping and janitorial duties as assigned to support a clean and professional work environment.
- Lift, carry, and move supplies, equipment, and waste containers as needed, using proper body mechanics.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods while performing cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Complete required trainings in English and apply learned procedures and standards to daily work.
- Work assigned shifts reliably and punctually, including evening and swing shifts as scheduled.
- Follow directions from supervisors and collaborate with team members to ensure all cleaning tasks are completed on time.
- 1 to 2 years of cleaning or janitorial experience.
- Hands-on experience with custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, and general housekeeping.
- Ability to perform janitorial tasks including trash and recycling removal and restroom cleaning.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and proper chemical handling procedures.
- Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physically demanding tasks for long periods.
- Comfort working in a structured, professional facility environment.
- Ability to complete trainings in English and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliability in working evening or night shifts on a consistent schedule.
- Experience in general labor or custodial roles in office, cafeteria, or stockroom settings.
- Familiarity with standard janitorial equipment and supplies.
- Bilingual ability is accommodated and welcomed.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean and orderly spaces.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a custodial team.

Work Environment
The role is fully onsite within a professional facility that includes offices, cafeterias, and stockrooms. Janitors work indoors in a clean, organized, and highly professional setting. The standard schedule is 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., either Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, with the contractor able to choose between these options. Initial training is conducted for three days in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with the option to stay longer to complete an eight-hour day. For the first two weeks, additional training continues on a swing shift from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. All required trainings are completed in English. The work involves regular use of cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment, adherence to safety procedures, and maintaining a neat and presentable appearance appropriate for a professional environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Verne, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
