Job Description

As a Quality Engineer, your primary role will involve directly supporting the production floor by conducting complex troubleshooting through root cause analysis and investigations. You will apply engineering principles, statistical analysis, and scientific methods to implement corrective actions effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and control to ensure all raw materials, component details, and finished products meet contractual quality requirements.
  • Manage supplier interactions and work with new product development programs to ensure supplier compliance with quality requirements.
  • Develop and communicate expectations for quality performance, continuous improvement, quality systems, process controls, and capabilities to suppliers.
  • Mentor and train supplier representatives in best practices concerning quality systems, process control methods, problem-solving, and statistical tools.
  • Develop supplier audit schedules, conduct supplier audits, and follow up on supplier corrective actions.
  • Maintain supplier programs, including ratings and metrics.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in quality engineering, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Expertise in statistical process control and lean methodologies.
  • Ability to apply scientific methods and engineering principles, including Fishbone Method, 5 WHYs, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis, and 8D Methodology.
  • Experience in metals and metal fabrication, including welding, machining, GD&T, and working with materials like inconel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance, audits, corrective action plans, and quality control standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Supplier quality management and first article inspection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a bonus.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing, focusing on internal and supplier quality engineering.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a large industrial production floor where you will be actively engaged with production workers. You will be aligned to space programs and production areas, focusing on metallic and composite air ducting systems for rockets. The role offers a hands-on experience with technical investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions implementation, not confined to paperwork. The company, a leader in ducting systems design and manufacturing, offers modest office space and a newer design center housing engineers.

Compensation:$105000
