As a Float Regulatory Pharmacy Technician, you will support the UCLA Health by performing a broad range of complex, high-level pharmacy technician duties. In this pivotal float role, you will contribute across multiple sites, providing training, mentoring, and technical oversight to pharmacy staff. You will play a key part in onboarding new employees, conducting quality control audits, and participating in interviews and hiring processes. Your ability to evaluate services, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement safe, high-quality practices will directly support departmental growth and patient care excellence.
You will also serve as a resource to nursing and provider teams, hazardous drug handling, controlled substances, medication waste documentation. Your scope will include sterile and hazardous drug preparation, regulatory documentation, and process improvement initiatives. With active involvement in program development and policy design, this role offers an opportunity to lead and innovate as part of a collaborative and mission-driven team.
Schedule: Varied hours, depending on department needs, including weekends and holidays. You must be able to travel to multiple UCLA Health locations.
Hourly Salary Range: $34.92 - $46.09 (Union represented; step-based salary depending on years of experience)
Bargaining Unit: EX - AFSCME

Qualifications
- Required: Active California Pharmacy Technician License
- At least 2 years of IV sterile compounding experience, preferably with hazardous drug preparation using aseptic technique
- Ability to travel between multiple UCLA Health Hem/Onc sites
- Strong ability to train, mentor, and provide technical oversight of other pharmacy technicians
- Experience with glove fingertip and media fill testing
- Experience in program implementation, quality improvement, and evaluating pharmacy services
- Ability to perform accurate pharmaceutical calculations and review documentation for compliance and waste reduction
- Proficiency with Care Connect (EPIC), LYNX, Microsoft Office, and other pharmacy-related systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with providers, pharmacists, and clinical teams
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs and push 50 lbs; frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to float between locations based on staffing needs
