Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design engineering for inertial navigation systems and/or mission computers, including support for existing product lines.
- Create innovative designs ensuring high producibility at minimal unit cost.
- Support root cause analysis and swift resolution of manufacturing line stops and other critical production activities.
- Collaborate with other engineering organizations, program management, factory operations, the global supply chain, and Mission Assurance teams.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with five or more years of applicable experience OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with three or more years of applicable experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of applicable experience.
- Expertise with mechanical CAD software; Siemens NX preferred.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT), drawing creation, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Good presentation and writing/communication skills.
- Experience mentoring junior level engineers.
- Active DoD Secret or higher clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Siemens NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM software.
- Expert-level proficiency with GDT per Y14.5 standards.
- Familiarity with additional engineering standards.
- Understanding of stress principles and component sizing.
- Creative problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
- Experience working in a team environment and handling pressure with short turn-around requests.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
This position requires presence on-site in Woodland Hills, CA, with a 9/80 schedule allowing for every other Friday off. The role involves less than 10% travel and requires a Secret clearance.
