Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II to oversee and manage multiple design and construction projects within educational facilities. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in project management, specifically in educational facility design and construction, and will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with design documents and DSA requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review and summarize project data.
- Conduct field checks to ensure construction complies with design documents and DSA requirements.
- Monitor, report, and provide recommendations on project status, delivery objectives, schedule, costs, budget, staffing delays, disputes, changes, and compliance with SOP and other construction requirements.
- Identify risks, propose mitigation approaches, and maintain a risk register database to update risks and mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with the Design Team and others to develop and execute construction phasing and swing space plans, tracking progress against those plans.
- Resolve complex construction-related issues in coordination with the Design Team, contractors, inspectors, DSA, and others, within budget and on time.
- Oversee the close-out of projects for compliance with DA, District, and PMO requirements, including coordination with the relocation project manager on activities related to FF&E, asset disposition/surplus, and other relocation matters.
- Assist other team members in managing and coordinating the planning, programming, and design phases of projects, and in reporting to stakeholders, District, and PMO.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or a closely related field (4 years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education).
- 7 years of experience in managing multiple design and construction projects, including 2 years in educational facility design and construction.
- Experience with Design-Build projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes or similar processes.
- Experience in a large capital improvement program and familiarity with the California Public Contract Code.
- Experience in formal construction partnering.
- Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, including planning, design, construction, and closeout.
- Ability to multi-task, solve problems, and successfully deliver projects.
- A current and valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or as a Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
- A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
- A valid DBIA certification.
