Job Title: Lab Technician – Reagent Manufacturing & Packaging
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting reagent manufacturing within the packaging department by filling bulk reagents into final containers, assembling multi-reagent kits, and ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control. The lab technician works in a laboratory setting, follows established SOPs, and operates packaging equipment to produce high-quality, compliant products in a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Fill bulk reagents into final container bottles and prepare kits consisting of multiple reagents.
- Obtain bulk reagents from production and ensure correct materials are used for each batch.
- Print bottle and container labels and apply them to bottles and boxes by hand or with labeling machines.
- Allocate reagents into containers using pipettes and other dispensing tools.
- Measure reagent volumes accurately using graduated cylinders and other measuring devices.
- Operate packaging equipment, including printers, labelers, and electronic or mechanical filling systems.
- Fill non-sterile liquid products in dark room and fume hood work areas according to procedures.
- Prepare components such as bottles, inserts, and instructions for inclusion in final kits.
- Assemble reagent kits by combining multiple components and reagents into a single packaged product.
- Verify the accuracy of work and document all activities and results in batch records.
- Work in strict accordance with SOPs and follow directions from leadership to maintain compliance and quality.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory status on products and report any discrepancies or shortages.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe laboratory environment by following health and safety guidelines.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including latex gloves and safety glasses, as required.
- Handle animal plasma and serum-based products safely and in accordance with procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production, packaging, and laboratory operations.
Essential Skills
- Experience working as a manufacturing or lab technician in a laboratory or production environment.
- Ability to follow SOPs accurately and consistently in daily work.
- Familiarity with pipetting techniques and handling reagents.
- Experience with reagent preparation and handling in a lab or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to measure liquid volumes using graduated cylinders and other lab equipment.
- Comfort operating packaging equipment such as printers, labelers, and electronic or mechanical fillers.
- Understanding of ISO or similar quality and documentation standards in a regulated environment, including medical device or reagent production.
- Ability to maintain accurate batch records and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality and traceability.
- Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to consistently meet production schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to work safely with animal plasma and serum-based products.
- Ability to wear latex gloves and safety glasses for extended periods as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
- Familiarity with working in a dark room and fume hood environments.
- Experience maintaining inventory records and tracking product status.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively in a supportive, production-focused lab setting.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Comfort working under documented quality systems such as ISO-based processes.
Work Environment
This role is based in a laboratory setting within a manufacturing and packaging department. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the possibility of overtime as needed; weekends are not currently required. Work includes time in dark rooms and fume hood areas while filling non-sterile liquid products, as well as operating printers, labelers, and electronic or mechanical filling equipment. The position requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, including latex gloves and safety glasses, and involves handling animal plasma and serum-based products. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
